Patient Timelines puts everything Anthuria found for a resident on one dated timeline: Pulse incidents, admissions and discharges, and abnormal vitals. Use it to see what happened in the days before an event, such as a hospital transfer or a fall, and to put together the sequence of events when deciding whether something was avoidable or unavoidable.

Open a resident's timeline

There are two ways to get to a timeline.

From All Patients

  1. In the left menu, click All Patients and click the resident's name.

  2. At the top of the resident's page, next to their name, click Timeline.

From Pulse

  1. In Pulse, open an incident category, such as Fall, and click the resident.

  2. In the Incident review panel, click Go to Timeline.

Set the date range

The top of the timeline shows the resident's name, their facility, and the start date.

By default, the timeline starts at the last admission date or 30 days ago, whichever is more recent. ex. If the resident was admitted 2 weeks ago, it starts on the admission day. If they were admitted more than 30 days ago, it shows the last 30 days.

To change the range, open the date preset menu and choose Last admission date, Last 30 days, Last 10 days, or Last 3 days, or choose Custom date and pick a start date.

Choose what the timeline shows

  • Incident types: lists the incident types triggered in the selected period, such as Condition Change, Fall, or Weight Change. Check one or more to show only those.

  • Show events: choose Incidents, Admissions/discharges, Vitals, or any combination. Click Clear to reset.

Vitals detail

  • Abnormal only (default): shows vitals recorded as low or high, or flagged as a change in PCC.

  • All vitals, last 7 days: shows every vital recorded in the last 7 days.

Read the timeline

Entries are listed by date, most recent first, and color-coded:

  • Vitals: orange.

  • Admission: green, labeled Facility stay.

  • Discharge: black, labeled Facility stay.

  • Incidents: black, labeled Incident.

Each incident shows its type, and the summary of what was documented, and its follow-ups with their status.

Open an incident

Click View details on an incident to open the Incident review panel beside the timeline. It shows the same information you see in Pulse: follow-ups, clinical summary, clinical details, and the documentation behind the incident.

Click View all documents to see whether an incident report was filed and to open the related notes. Click a follow-up, such as Family Notification, to see the note that completed it, with the relevant text highlighted.

Other incident types, such as Condition Change, open the same way.

Vitals are display only

Vital entries show the reading, whether it was high or low, and the time recorded. They do not open a details panel.

Putting the timeline to work

If a resident went to the hospital on the 3rd, set the range to the days before and look at what Anthuria flagged: abnormal vitals, a condition change, refusals of food or medication, a fall. Together with the follow-ups and their status, this gives you the sequence of events you need for a rehospitalization review or a fall huddle.

Questions we get

Why doesn't the timeline go back further than 30 days?

The default is the last admission date or the last 30 days, whichever is more recent. Choose Custom date to pick an earlier start date.

Why don't I see all of the resident's vitals?

Vitals detail defaults to Abnormal only. Switch to All vitals, last 7 days to see every reading from the last week.

Nothing happens when I click a vital

That is expected. Vitals are shown for reference and do not open a details panel. Incidents do.
